I listen to music when I’m working in the studio and always find so much inspiration through the work of other artists. I’ve always wanted to create a show based around songs that inspire me and Jukebox is that show. Each piece included in this exhibition was created with a specific song in mind and I really pushed myself in these works – to sometimes do what might be too much and to sometimes allow for less. To be more unapologetic and lean into the techniques that I’ve learned over the past thirteen years and to explore where else I can go. I’m at a stage (and age) where I can trust myself a bit more and it’s a great place to create from and so I’m quite excited to share what I’ve been working on this past year. There is a track list available with corresponding songs and I encourage the viewer to listen while viewing the works. My hope is that together, the “duet” of my visuals and the sounds of the other artists will create a dynamic and interesting sensory experience.
