Vancouver based artist, Maria Entis was born in Yokohama, Japan and moved to San Francisco at the age of ten. After attending the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she worked as a graphic designer in various traditional and electronic media and earned an Emmy (for outstanding achievement in graphic design).
In 1993, Entis returned to her roots as a fine artist. Her work captures energy – channeling a spontaneous, organic even playful exploration of paint and texture into a well- ordered, balanced, contemplative whole. Entis’ works are in private and corporate collections in the USA, Canada and the UK.
“I’ve always been inspired by Japanese art which starts with nature or a simple gesture, but delivers a sublime experience of refinement.”
